CURRY (WORLD FAMOUS) | |
1 lb. chuck or sirloin, lean and cubed 1/2 c. celery, thinly sliced 1 tbsp. poppy seed 1 tsp. coriander seed 1 tsp. cumin seed 1/2 tsp. garlic juice 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder 2 to 3 dried red chilies 2 tbsp. chopped raw peanuts 12 oz. V-8 juice 1 lg. onion, chopped 1 lg. stewed tomatoes 2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. freshly ground pepper Coat meat with flour and saute in fat with celery and onion until browned. Place the remainder of the ingredients (excepting the tomatoes) in blender and blend for 3 minutes when the sauteing is going on, then add to the meat mixture along with the tomatoes. Simmer for 2 to 3 hours. Serve over rice with any or all of the following condiments: Chutney, sliced green onions, chopped peanuts, sieved eggs, crisp crumbled bacon, sauteed bananas, pineapple wedges, India Relish and hot tea. |
