BULLDOG GINGERSNAPS 
1 cup sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg, slightly beaten
sugar

Combine the first 7 ingredients. Cut in butter to resemble coarse crumbs. Stir in molasses and egg. Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350°F for 10 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet immediately.
