ORANGE SLICE CAKE 
3 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 lb. orange slice candy, cut up
1 (8 oz.) pkg. chopped dates
2 c. chopped walnuts
1 (3 1/2 oz.) can flaked coconut
1 c. soft butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk

GLAZE:

1 c. orange juice
2 c. sifted powdered sugar

Combine flour and salt. In large bowl, combine candy, dates, walnuts and coconut. Add 1/4 cup flour mixture; mix well.

In another bowl, cream butter with a spoon until light, gradually adding sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.

Combine soda and buttermilk. To creamed mixture, add remaining flour mixture alternately with buttermilk mixture, blending well after each addition. Stir in candy mixture, mixing well.

Turn batter into greased and floured 10 inch tube pan or 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
