2 tbsp. soft butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 - 1/2 c. milk
2 c. boiling water
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. packed brown sugar

Cream 2 tablespoons soft butter and add sugar and egg. Mix. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Add to butter mixture along with milk, making a soft dough. Pour into buttered baking dish and pour on top the boiling water, butter and brown sugar. Bake in 375 degree oven for about 30 minutes.
