APPLE BUTTER | |
12 to 13 lb. apples 5 lb. sugar 1/2 c. vinegar 1/4 c. cinnamon candies (Red Hots) Core and slice apples but do not peel. Place apples in large pot with small amount of water. Cook until soft. Press apples through sieve. Combine apples, sugar and vinegar in a large, deep roasting pan; mix well. Bake at 325°F for 5 hours, stirring occasionally. Add candies, stirring well. Cook about 1 extra hour or until thickened. Store in refrigerator. Makes 15 cups. Submitted by: Rita Murray |
