SWEET AND SOUR BEEF STEW 
1 to 2 lbs. beef stew meat
1/4 tsp. garlic salt
2 tbsp. oil
1 tbsp. soy sauce
3 tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. water
1/2 lg. green pepper, cubed
1 onion, chunked
1/4 c. vinegar
1/4 c. ketchup
1 (13 oz.) can pineapple chunks
1 1/2 tbsp. cornstarch

Cut beef into cubes. Sprinkle with garlic salt and brown in 1 tablespoon oil. Add water and soy sauce. Cover and simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours until tender. Cut green pepper and onion in chunks. Fry in 1 tablespoon oil. Add vinegar, ketchup and drained pineapple. Stir in sugar mixed with cornstarch. Cook and stir until thickened. Add to stew. Heat through and serve over rice.
