GRANDMA'S GINGER COOKIES | |
1 c. sugar 1 c. shortening, not butter 1 c. molasses (Brer Rabbit) 1 egg 1 tsp. cloves 2 tsp. finger 5 1/2 c. flour, approximately 1/2 c. boiling water 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. salt Mix all ingredients with enough flour to make dough stiff enough to roll out. Cut into desired shape, press 3-4 raisins on each cookie, sprinkle with granulated sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Makes 4-5 dozen. |
