MEAT CRUST PIE | |
1 lb. ground beef 1/2 c. dry bread crumbs 1/4 c. onion, grated 1/4 c. green pepper, chopped 2 tsp. salt, divided 1/8 tsp. oregano 1/8 tsp. pepper 2 (8 oz. ea.) cans tomato sauce, divided 1 c. water 1 1/3 c. Minute rice 3/4 c. Cheddar cheese, grated tomato slices Combine beef, bread crumbs, onion, green pepper, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, seasonings and 1/2 cup tomato sauce. Mix well. Pat into bottom and sides of 9-inch greased pie pan. Combine remaining 1 1/2 cups tomato sauce, 1/2 teaspoon salt, water, Minute rice and 1/2 cup cheese. Spoon mixture into meat shell. Cover and bake at 350°F for 25 minutes. Top with tomato slices and rest of cheese. Bake uncovered for 10 to 15 minutes more. Submitted by: Cathy Grandy |
