CHINESE JAMBALAYA
I am from south Louisiana, and I came up with this recipe by just adding things I like to other things I like. Through trial and error I came up with what I call Chinese Jambalaya. It is one of my favorite main course or side dishes.

1 box Zatarain's New Orleans style beef flavored rice*
3/4 lb smoked sausage, sliced
1 lb. bag broccoli florets, frozen
1 tbsp. lemon-pepper (McCormick's)
1 tbsp. soy sauce

Prepare flavored rice per box instructions except add sausage also. Put rice, sausage and water in a bowl and heat in microwave for 2-3 minutes. Pour rice and sausage in to Crock-Pot, add lemon-pepper seasoning and soy sauce and continue to cook on high for approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Stir in broccoli and continue to cook on low for 2-3 hours.

Depending on how you like your broccoli (crisp, firm or soft) you should put broccoli in later for crisp and earlier for soft. I sometimes steam broccoli separately in order to prepare the dish faster with softer broccoli. This way it's ready to eat in less than 2 hours.

Note: I don't know if you can get Zatarain's products outside of Louisiana. If not, use your favorite flavored rice.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
