CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 lb. butter
3 c. sugar
5 eggs
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. cocoa
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 c. milk

Grease tube pan. Cream shortening and butter. Add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and beat well. Add dry ingredients gradually, beating until smooth. Add milk and vanilla. Pour into large, greased tube pan. Bake for 1 1/2 hours at 300 degrees. Cool and prepare glaze.

CHOCOLATE GLAZE:

1 bar German chocolate
1 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. water
1 c. confectioners sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Melt chocolate and butter in double boiler. Add water and stir thoroughly. Remove from heat. Add confectioners sugar and vanilla and beat. This may be thinned with a little hot water. Pour or spoon glaze over cake while warm. Test for doneness before removing from oven.
