MARINATED TOMATOES WITH ONIONS 
1 1/2 tsp. basil leaves
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. powdered mustard
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. coarsely cracked black pepper
3 tbsp. white vinegar
1/2 c. salad oil
1 med. onion, thinly sliced
3 lg. firm ripe tomatoes, thinly sliced
1/4 c. parsley

In bowl, stir together basil leaves, sugar, salt, mustard, garlic powder, pepper, white vinegar and salad oil. In shallow casserole layer thinly sliced onion, tomatoes, parsley and dressing. Repeat as necessary.

Cover and marinate in refrigerator several hours or overnight. Yield: 6 servings.
