OATMEAL ORIGINALS | |
1 1/4 c. butter, melted (2 1/2 sticks preferred) or butter 3/4 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. granulated sugar 1 lg. egg 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 1 tsp. nutmeg 2 tbsp. vanilla 2 3/4 c. oats, uncooked You favorite nuts or pecans (optional) Pour melted butter into large mixing bowl. Add brown sugar, granulated sugar and large egg. Mix these ingredients until batter is smooth. Pour in flour and stir until all lumps and air is dissolved. Add nutmeg, vanilla, and then oats to batter. Stir until all dryness is gone from all ingredients. Batter should look thick and rocky. The batter should not be runny; like thick syrup but close to barely dry. Moistness will form when heated. Cookies are best formed when you take a portion in your hand and roll into a ball and spread them out into 5 inches long or if you desire smaller cookies 8 inches long. Put into a 350 degree preheated oven. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Check at 10 minutes to assure cookies do not cook to fast. Family this cookie will make you hurt yourself "watch out, share". |
