TONY'S WISCONSIN STYLE BEER BRATS | |
5 bratwursts (Johnsonville are best) 1/2 onion, sliced or chopped 1-2 tbsp. brown sugar 1-2 (12 oz.) cans lighter, lager-style beer Place brats and onion in a pot or saucepan. Add enough beer so that the brats and onions are covered with a small amount extra to maneuver. Add brown sugar to mix and parboil over medium heat. This should be a slow simmer, cooking for only 6 to 8 minutes. The trick is to not cook fully. Transfer brats to an oiled grill and grill until both sides are crisp and browned. Serve on hot dog buns or rolls. Typical condiments include finely chopped onions, brown mustard, and ketchup. Submitted by: Tony G. |
