MERTEN'S CHILI WITH BRATS | |
1 1/2 lbs. ground hamburger 1 onion, diced 1 green pepper, diced 1 can diced tomatoes 1 can chili beans 1 small can tomato paste 1 pkg chili seasonings mix 1/4 tsp. garlic powder 1 tablespoon chili powder (more or less, to taste) 1 can tomato juice salt and pepper, to taste pinch of cayenne 3 brats Sauté ground beef, onions, pepper and seasoning. Boil brats then cook on charcoal or gas grill until they darken. Cut brats into bite size pieces. Mix everything into slow cooker and add the can of tomato juice. For best taste, allow to simmer for an hour or two the night before, then refrigerate and reheat the next day. If you'd like to try something that tastes great, grab a bowl of chili, top with a little sour cream and some shredded Cheddar cheese. Spread peanut butter on toast or crusty bread and serve. Wow!
