3 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening (1/2 butter)
1 tsp. vanilla or 1 tsp. nutmeg and 1/2 tsp. lemon flavoring
2 eggs
1 c. sugar

Sift dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Beat sugar and eggs until thick or lemon colored. Add to dry ingredients. Roll 1/8 inch thick, cut out cookies. Bake on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
