SUGAR COOKIES 
1 c. softened butter
1 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. almond extract
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda

Mix butter, sugar, egg, vanilla and almond extract. Blend in flour and baking soda. Cover, chill 2-3 hours.

Heat oven 375 degrees. Divide dough ball in half. Roll each half 1/4 inch thick on lightly floured cloth covered board. Cut into desired shapes. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 7 to 8 minutes or until light brown on edges. Yield 4 dozen 2 to 2 1/2 inch cookies.

ICING:

1 lb. confectioners' sugar
1 lg. egg white
Water (1 tsp. to 1 tbsp.)

Beat sugar into egg white, adding enough water to produce a fairly thick frosting.
