NOEL CRANBERRY DATE BARS 
12 oz. pkg. cranberries
8 oz. pkg. chopped pitted dates
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
2 c. rolled oats
1 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. butter, melted
1 recipe orange glaze

Filling: In medium saucepan combine cranberries and dates. Cook covered over low heat for 10-15 minutes or until cranberries pop, stirring frequently. Stir in vanilla and set aside.

In large mix bowl stir together flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda and salt. Stir in butter until well blended. Pat 1/2 the oat mix on bottom of 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes. Carefully spread filling over baked oat mix. Sprinkle remaining oat mix on top. Pat gently. Bake 20-22 minutes more or until golden. Cool on wire rack. Drizzle with Orange Glaze.

ORANGE GLAZE:

2 c. sifted confectioners' sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2-3 tbsp. orange juice

In medium bowl, stir together confectioners' sugar, vanilla and orange juice to make a drizzling consistency. Makes 3/4 cup. Cut into bars. (32 bars.)
