BLACK FOREST CAKE | |
1 can black cherries 4 tbsp. Kirschwasser (cherry brandy) 2 cartons whipping cream 3/4 c. powdered sugar 1 milk chocolate bar (to make chocolate curls) 1 box German chocolate cake mix 5 maraschino cherries Soak black cherries in Kirschwasser overnight. Bake German chocolate cake in 2 layers according to directions on box. Let it cool and slice each layer in half crosswise. Whip the whipping cream and 3/4 cup powdered sugar. To assemble cake, place first layer on a plate. Sprinkle a small amount of Kirschwasser on top and spread with a small amount of whipped cream. Repeat for second layer, but place all black cherries evenly before spreading with whipped cream. Complete third layer as first. Place fourth layer on top and cover entire cake with remaining whipped cream, reserving enough whipped cream to make 5 small whipped cream balls. Arrange these on top of cake. Place maraschino cherries on top of each whipped cream ball and sprinkle chocolate curls over cake. |
