MOM'S BLITZ TORTE 
DOUGH:

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
3 egg yolks
1/2 c. milk
1 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda

MERINGUE:

3 egg whites plus 2 more egg whites
1 1/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts

CUSTARD:

2 egg yolks
1 c. milk
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch

Dough: Cream butter and sugar, add egg yolks, fold in flour and baking soda with milk. Pour into 2 springform layer pans.

Meringue: Beat egg whites stiff, add sugar. Spoon half of egg white mixture over each pan of uncooked dough. Sprinkle chopped nuts over meringue. Bake 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

Custard: Cook ingredients over low heat, stirring until it thickens. Cool.

Place one cooled cake layer on serving plate meringue side up; spread cooled custard over meringue; place second cake layer on top of custard; meringue side up. Slice and enjoy!
