FRUIT COBBLER 
4 to 6 c. fruit (berries, peaches, pears, apples can be mixed)
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 lb. butter, melted & cooled (not cold)

Toss fruit with 3/4 cup sugar and let stand 30 minutes. In a bowl, combine sifted flour, baking powder, 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon and salt. Add vanilla and milk and stir until combined. Melt butter in a square or round 10 inch baking pan, 2 inches deep. Pour in batter and stir. Spoon fruit over batter, bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Increase to 400 degrees and bake 10 to 15 minutes longer, until golden brown around edges.

We used two cups of pears and two cups of apples, and vanilla Silk instead of milk--and it was delicious! Be sure to cook it until the cake top looks done.
