NOT THE SAME 'OL ARTICHOKE DIP 
1 lg. can artichokes, squeeze out the juice and chop the artichoke
1 sm. onion, about the size of an egg, chopped finely
8 or so large fresh mushrooms
1/2 c. mayonnaise
6 oz. wedge of Parmesan cheese - not canned - grated
Garlic powder - several good sprinkles

Saute the onion in very little butter and add to the artichokes. Saute the mushrooms until they dry out then add to the artichokes. Mix in the mayonnaise and all but a little of the cheese which you should sprinkle on top. Put in glass pie plate or a casserole dish about one quart in size. Bake at 350 degrees about 25 minutes until bubbles. Serve hot with crackers or tortilla chips. This is great to make a day or two in advance just keep tightly covered and cook a little longer to compensate for the original cold temperature. DO NOT MICROWAVE as the cheese gets tough and stringy.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
