2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1 c. salad oil
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. diced fresh apples
1 c. chopped nuts

Sift flour, soda, flour, spices and salt together in bowl. Add eggs, oil, and vanilla. Mix well. Add apples and nuts; stir until mixed. Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 1 hour.

Remove cake from oven; place in heavy brown paper bag immediately. Close tightly; let stand until cool.
