BLACKBERRY PINWHEEL COBBLER
2 c. sugar
2 c. water
1 stick butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
1/3 c. milk
3 c. fresh blackberries
1 tsp. ground cinnamon

Combine sugar and water in saucepan; stir well. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves. Set aside. Place butter in 13x9x2 inch pan and melt; set aside.

Cut shortening into flour until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add milk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface and knead lightly 4 or 5 times.

Roll dough into 12x9-inch rectangle. Spread blackberries over dough; sprinkle with cinnamon. Roll up jelly roll fashion, beginning with long side. Cut dough into 1-2 inch slices.

Place slices cut side down into butter. Pour sugar syrup around slices. Bake at 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes until golden brown. Yield: 12 servings.
