HAM AND CHEESE PINWHEELS
1 pkg. active dry yeast
1/4 c. warm water
1 c. milk, scalded
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
3 1/2 c. flour
1 egg
2 c. chopped ham
2 c. shredded cheese (Cheddar, Colby or Mozzarella)
Pizza sauce (optional)

Soften yeast in water (110 degrees). Combine milk, sugar, shortening and salt in separate bowl. Add 1 1/2 cups flour. Beat in yeast and egg. Gradually add remaining flour. Place in a greased bowl. Cover; let rise until doubled, 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Turn on lightly floured surface. Divide dough in half. Roll half the dough in a rectangle about 8x16 inches. Spread 1 cup of ham and 1 cup cheese evenly on dough. Roll up lengthwise like a jelly roll. Cut dough in 12 pieces and place on a greased cookie sheet. Let rise 30-40 minutes. Bake for about 1/2 hour in a 350 degree oven.
