DATE PINWHEEL COOKIES 
FILLING:

1 c. pitted dates, cut up
1 c. water
1 tsp. flour
1/2 c. nuts

DOUGH:

2 c. oatmeal
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. baking soda
1 egg

Combine filling ingredients in saucepan. Cook until thickened. Cool.

In large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients for dough. Mix well. Roll 1/4 inch thick. Spread with cooled filling. Roll up as a jelly roll. Refrigerate overnight.

Next day, slice and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
