EMELINE'S DATE PINWHEEL COOKIES 
1/2 lb. dates, seeded & chopped
1/3 c. water
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. nuts, chopped fine

Cook and boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. COOL.

DOUGH:

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar

Cream and add 1 well beaten eggs. Sift:

2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt

Mix well and roll on a floured board to 1/4 inch thicken rectangle. Spread cooled date filling to edges and roll starting with the long side. Wrap in waxed paper. Chill. Slice 1/4 inch thick. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes.
