MOM'S BEST BROWNIES 
2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. water
1/3 c. cocoa
1/2 c. Crisco
1 stick butter

ICING:

1 stick butter
1/4 c. cocoa
1/3 c. buttermilk
1 lb. powdered sugar

Sift first 3 ingredients together; set aside. Beat buttermilk, eggs, baking soda and vanilla together. Bring water, cocoa, Crisco and butter to a boil. Put sifted ingredients into a Mix Master; add boiling ingredients into mixture; beat well. Add buttermilk mixture; beat again.

Pour into greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes. Allow brownies to cool. Bring Icing ingredients (except powdered sugar) to a boil; add powdered sugar and beat well. Pour over cooled brownies. Keep refrigerated.
