2 1/4 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg

TOPPING:

1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. flour
2 apples
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. butter

Sift flour, baking powder and salt into bowl. Add sugar, shortening, milk, vanilla and egg. Mix and pour into greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Core and slice apples into 8ths. Combine ingredients for topping until like little beads and sprinkle on top of mixture. Set apples in batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
