CHERRY COOKIES 
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
2/3 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. drained, chopped maraschino cherries

Cream sugar and shortening until light, add egg and beat well. Stir in flour and salt, then vanilla and cherries. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.
