BUTTER HORN 
2 c. flour, sifted
1/2 lb. sweet butter
1/3 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. ground almonds
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Make dough with above, kneading well. To form each cookie, take quantity of dough (enough to form a ball the size of a walnut) and roll between palms of hands until spherically shaped. Lay ball of dough on work table and press and roll forwards and backwards until shaped like a cigar 2 1/2 inches long. Bend in ends to form "U" shape and place in pan which has been sprinkled lightly with flour. Place in oven at 325 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until a very light brown. Lift out very gently with spatula and place in dish of sugar. Keep in a cool place.
