LUNCH BOX QUICKIE 
2 1/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1/4 c. shortening
1 (17 oz.) can fruit cocktail, undrained
3/4 c. semi-sweet chocolate pieces
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients, except chocolate and nuts, in a large mixer bowl. Blend at low speed until moistened; beat for 2 minutes at medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour batter into a greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan; sprinkle with chocolate pieces and nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. 12 to 14 servings.
