DATE NUT BREAD 
1 c. dates, chopped
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. boiling water

Stir until the butter melts. Cool.

1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Put in greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pan. Bake about 60 to 70 minutes at 350 degrees. (Bread is done when toothpick inserted into middle comes out clean.)
