ORANGE DATE NUT BREAD | |
1 c. dates 1/2 c. water 1/4 c. butter 1 egg 1 c. sugar 2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 c. chopped nuts 1 orange Grate the entire rind of 1 orange; set aside. Puree remaining fruit of the orange and set aside in mixing bowl. Cook dates, water and butter over medium heat until dates are softened completely. Combine both date mixture and blended orange in mixing bowl and blend. Stir in grated orange peel. Add remaining dry ingredients; blend well. Grease bread loaf pans and fill 1/2 with batter. Recipe will make 1 large (8x4-inch) loaf or 2 small (5 3/4 x 3-inch) mini loaves. Baking time for large loaf is 60-65 minutes, for mini loaves 45-50 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees. |
