1/2 c. preserves or butter 16 slices bread, crust removed 3/4 c. pancake mix 1 tsp. sugar 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1 egg 3/4 c. milk Hot vegetable oil Powdered sugar Spread preserves over each slice of bread, roll up jelly roll fashion. Tightly wrap bread rolls in plastic wrap. Chill several hours or overnight. Combine pancake mix, sugar, and nutmeg, mix well. Add egg and milk, mixing until smooth. Dip each bread roll into pancake batter and fry in hot oil until brown. Drain, roll in powdered sugar. Makes 16. |
