BUTTER COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix together and chill 1 hour. Then roll in balls the size of hickory nuts. Place on baking sheet and press with a fork.

Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 400°F.
