NANNIE'S BOILED DRESSING 
3 eggs
3/4 c. sugar
3 tbsp. flour
Dash of salt & pepper
1/2 c. vinegar
1 1/2 pts. water
Big dollop (1 to 2 tbsp.) sweet or sour cream (opt.)

Place eggs into 1 1/2 quart saucepan and beat well. Mix sugar, flour, salt and pepper; then add to eggs and beat until smooth. Add vinegar and beat. Add 1 1/2 pints water (and a big dollop of cream, if desired). Beat until smooth. Cook like pudding over medium heat until it boils. Take off heat and cool. Put into jar and refrigerate. Pour liberally over chopped leaf lettuce mixed with sliced scallions.
