SUE'S BEST BUTTERCREAM FROSTING 
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened (no substitutes!)
1/2 cup shortening
1 (1 lb.) box confectioners' sugar, sifted
2 tbsp. milk
pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/8 tsp. rum extract
1/8 tsp. butter flavoring

Cream butter and shortening thoroughly. Sift confectioners' sugar. Using a mixer, add to butter/shortening mixture 1/2 cup at a time, blending well.

Mix milk, salt, extracts and flavoring well. With mixer on high, beat mixture and drizzle milk/extract mixtures slowly into mixture. Mix until fluffy.

To use, spread on completely cooled cake.

Note: To thin or use as icing, slowly add 2 tablespoons corn syrup at end, blending well.

Makes 3 cups frosting.
