2/3 c. evaporated milk, divided 8 oz. chopped walnuts 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix 3/4 c. butter, melted 1 pkg. caramels 1 pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips 1/2 pkg. butterscotch chips (opt.) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9 x 13 inch brownie pan. Mix 1/3 cup evaporated milk, walnuts, cake mix and butter in a bowl. Spread 3/4 of the mixture on the bottom of the pan and bake for 12 minutes. Meanwhile, in saucepan combine 1/3 cup evaporated milk and caramels. Cook, stirring constantly, until caramels are melted. Remove baked layer from oven. Pour caramel mixture over it and spread. Make sure it is very hot so it spreads easily. Sprinkle the chips over the caramel. Spread remaining cake mix over chips. Bake 15 minutes. Refrigerate for at least 1/2 hour. |
