1 box German chocolate cake mix 2/3 c. evaporated milk, divided 1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels 3/4 c. butter 1 c. chopped nuts 1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips Combine caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk in top of double boiler. Heat until melted, stirring occasionally. Combine cake mix, 1/3 cup milk and butter. Mix until mixture holds together; cut in nuts. Press 1/2 of the mixture into a 13x9x2-inch pan and bake 6 minutes at 350 degrees. Pour melted caramels over chips evenly. Crumble remaining cake mixture over the caramels. Return to the oven and bake 15-18 minutes longer. Let set for at least 2-3 hours before cutting. |
