BUTTERMILK BISCUITS 
2 c. all-purpose flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. shortening
2/3 c. buttermilk

Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Blend in shortening and when thoroughly mixed, add buttermilk. Stir the mixture with a fork, then knead it about 30 seconds and roll it out on a floured surface to a thickness of 1/4-1/2 inch. Cut biscuits 2 inches in diameter. Place them close together on a baking sheet and bake 8-10 minutes at 450 degrees. Makes about 30 biscuits.
