APPLACAGA (SWEDISH APPLESAUCE CAKE) | |
1/2 c. butter (melted) 4 c. zwieback crumbs 5 c. sweetened applesauce, canned or homemade Whipped cream of Cool Whip (9 oz. carton) Mix butter and crumbs. Butter baking dish thoroughly and arrange crumbs and applesauce in alternating layers (two layers of each), finishing with crumbs. Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees) for 15 to 20 minutes. Invert on plate or serve from pan (warm or cold), topped with whipped cream. Use 9 x 13 pan. Serves 16. |
