1 1/2 lb. round steak 1 egg, beaten 1/3 c. Parmesan cheese 1/3 c. fine dry bread crumbs 1/3 c. oil 1 tsp. salt 1 med. onion 1/4 tsp. pepper 1/2 tsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. butter 2 c. hot water 1/2 lb. mozzarella cheese 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste Trim and cut meat into 6-8 pieces. Dip in egg and roll in mixture of Parmesan and crumbs. Heat oil in skillet, brown steaks. In same skillet, cook onion, stir in spices and tomato paste. Gradually add water, stirring constantly. Boil 5 minutes, scraping bits from skillet. Pour most of sauce over meat in shallow, wide baking dish. Top with cheese and rest of sauce. Bake at 350 degrees about 1 hour. Serve over spaghetti. Serves 4-6. |
