1/2 c. soft butter
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1/8 tsp. salt
Cherries, dates, nuts, chocolate pieces, etc.

Heat oven at 350 degrees. Mix butter, sugar and vanilla. Blend in flour and salt well with hand. If dough is dry, add 1 or 2 tablespoons of milk. Wrap level tablespoon of dough around filling (cherry, dates, nuts, etc.).

Bake 1" apart on ungreased baking sheet 12 to 15 minutes, until set, not brown. Cool. Dip tops in icing.
