1/2 c. soft butter
3/4 c. sifted confectioners sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Food coloring if desired (red)
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/8 tsp. salt

Mix butter, sugar, vanilla, and food coloring (red). Blend in flour and salt thoroughly with hands. If dough is dry, add 1-2 tablespoons cream. Wrap level tablespoon dough around cherry (maraschino); drain. Bake at 350 degrees on ungreased baking sheet 12-15 minutes until set but not brown.
