FIG PRESERVE COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground allspice
1 1/2 c. fig preserves (well drained & chopped)
1/2 c. chopped pecans

Sift together flour, salt, soda, cinnamon and allspice. Set aside. Combine shortening and sugar; add eggs and vanilla. Add flour mixture and blend until smooth. Add fig preserves. Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. bake for 8-10 minutes at 350 degrees.

Came upon this recipe Dec. 2012 --- we've made them for the Christmas holiday. Question -- recipe includes 1/2 c. chopped pecans -- there is no specification when you incorporate them into the recipe. We decided to mix them in when recipe called for fig preserves to be added.

May these for my boyfriend and he loved, loved, loved them. Added a pecan to the top for added flavor. Played around with the time cooked. Prefer the 9 minutes, this way they are like little cookie cakes.
