BUTTERSCOTCH HAYSTACKS
2 (6 oz.) pkgs. butterscotch morsels
1 1/2 c. salted cashew nuts or peanuts
1 (5 oz.) can chow mein noodles

Melt butterscotch bits in top of double boiler, stirring occasionally to blend. Combine nuts and chow mein noodles; place in preheated low oven, 200 degrees. Add warmed nuts and noodles to melted butterscotch and stir until all are coated. Then drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper. Make sure nuts and noodles are warmed first so butterscotch will not set until all are spooned out.

I love this recipe, so simple but such great taste of sweet and salty. I use mix nuts in recipe so that you get a assortment of nuts.

Does anyone out there know what is going on with the butterscotch morsels. I have not been able to get them to melt into a smooth almost liquid for about a year now. As they melt they go to a coarse type semi melt and then gets hard. HELP.

Melt butterscotch morsels on 50 percent power in microwave safe measuring cup for 30 second intervals, adding Crisco a tablespoon at a time til runny.

It would get more stars if it included 6 oz each of butterscotch and chocolate morsels. That's the way I fixed it for my kids. They called it Wookie poo.
