JOYCE'S APPLE BREAD PIE 
5 c. thinly sliced apples
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. vanilla
8 slices of white bread
1 egg
2 tsp. self-rising flour
1 stick butter, melted & cooled
Cinnamon, as desired

Spread apples in slightly buttered Pyrex dish. Cut bread slices in half and trim off crust. Layer bread slices on top of apples. Mix well all the remaining ingredients and pour over apples and bread slices. You may need to add water, small amount, to make batter thinner and spreadable. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
