1 1/2 lb. round steak, 1 1/2" thick 1 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. shortening 1/4 c. flour 1 clove garlic, minced 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce 2 lg. onions, diced 1 stalk celery, diced 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1/4 tsp. pepper Trim excess fat from meat. Add salt and pepper to flour. Divide flour mix and pound half into each side of steak. Brown in hot shortening quickly on both sides. Add remaining ingredients, cover. Reduce heat to simmer and cook 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until meat is tender. Remove cover last 15 minutes to thicken sauce. May be simmered on top of stove or put in slow 300 degree oven. |
