TOLL HOUSE OATMEAL COOKIES 
3/4 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
6 tbsp. granulated sugar
6 tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. water
1 egg (or 2 whites)
1 c. Quaker Oats
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 c. walnuts

Sift flour, soda and salt. Set aside. Blend butter, sugars, vanilla, and water. Beat in egg. Add flour mixture. Mix well. Stir in oats and chocolate chips. Add walnuts. Drop by 1/2 teaspoon on greased cookie sheets. Bake 10 to 12 minutes in 375 degree oven. Recipe may be doubled.
