“YEAST FREE PIZZA CRUST & HOMEMADE PIZZA” IS IN:

YEAST FREE PIZZA CRUST &
HOMEMADE PIZZA

CRUST:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 cup water
1/4 cup vegetable oil

PIZZA:

Tomato sauce
Ground pork or hamburger, browned
Chopped onion
1/2 tbsp. pizza seasoning*
Mushrooms
Shredded pizza cheese

Mix flour, salt, baking powder and water. Knead on floured counter just until workable and spreadable, about 2 minutes. Put on pizza pan. With fingers, spread vegetable oil on crust (helps so tomato sauce won't soak into crust) then spread with tomato sauce and top with the meat of your choice. Sprinkle with pizza seasoning and top with mushrooms and cheese.

Bake at 425°F for 20 minutes.

Note: Pizza seasoning can be purchased at the supermarket. It has all of the dried spices together and you just sprinkle it on.

Variation: Roll the dough out thinly and use to make stuffed "Hot Pockets", calzones or turnovers. Fill with your favorite filling (a pizza topping with cheese and chopped pepperoni is my favorite!).

Yeast Free Pizza Crust & Homemade Pizza

This is good crust, with a slight crunch on the outer edge. Make sure you grease your baking pan. It would be more flavorful if butter and herbs were sprinkled on before toppings were added. I think I'll try that next time. On the other hand, I have found a suitable replacement for takeout pizza!

I have been using this recipe for over a year. It's great. The main modifications I've made are as follows: omit oil, warm water and add 2 teaspoons of sugar and dissolve as much as possible. Then add that to the flour. Also, adding rosemary (fresh or dried) is delicious! To add dimension to the flour I sub 1/4 cup of cornmeal or brown rice flour. Either way I use cornmeal to roll/press it out.

I LOVE this recipe!!! So do my parents. I came across this recipe when I was in college and didn't have the time to deal with yeast dough. I add Italian seasonings, like basil and thyme, as well as garlic powder, onion powder, etc in the dry ingredients of the dough. Then I continue as the recipe states. I also use butter with seasonings brushed onto the crust
